Every MP Who Voted For the Finance Bill 2024, and Their Constituency
On Thursday 20 June 2024, Kenya's National Assembly voted at second reading to advance the Finance Bill 2024.
The result: 204 for, 115 against, no abstentions. Twenty-nine of the 349 members were absent.
It was a roll-call vote, taken after members opposing the bill disputed the outcome of a vote by acclamation. That dispute is why the names exist at all.
Before the list: what it is and is not
The names below are the published list of MPs recorded as voting YES, as reported by Kenyan media at the time, with constituencies where given.
It contains 174 names against an official tally of 204. The published lists that circulated were incomplete, and this one is too. Nothing has been added to fill the gap, because inventing thirty names to round out a list would be worse than publishing an honest partial one.
It is the second reading, not the third. The bill passed its third reading on 25 June 2024 by 195 to 106 with three abstentions. Some members voted differently between the two, and at least two MPs publicly disputed how their votes were recorded.
It is a record, not an accusation. A vote is a member exercising the function they were elected to perform.

Why this list still matters in 2026
Because the Finance Bill 2024 was withdrawn after the largest sustained protest movement in modern Kenyan history, and because a second Finance Bill has since passed — this time by 122 to 40, with 187 of 349 members absent.
The contrast between those two divisions is the story. In 2024, with the country watching, members were made to be counted. In 2026, most of them simply were not there.
What to do with it
Find your constituency. If your MP is on this list, they voted to advance the Finance Bill 2024 at second reading. If they are not, check the NO list — and note that thirty names from the official tally were never published, so absence from either list is not proof of anything.
Then ask them about 2026, where the record is a different kind of problem.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many MPs voted for Kenya's Finance Bill 2024?
204 voted in favour at the second reading on 20 June 2024, with 115 against, no abstentions and 29 of the 349 members absent. At the third reading on 25 June 2024 it passed 195 to 106 with three abstentions.
Is the published list of MPs who voted yes complete?
No. The lists published by Kenyan media at the time contained around 174 of the 204 names. Roughly thirty names were never published, so absence from a published list is not evidence of how a member voted.
Was the Finance Bill 2024 vote a roll call?
Yes. A roll-call division was taken after members opposing the bill disputed the outcome of a vote by acclamation, which is why individual names are on the record at all.
